I provide driving lessons across Flintshire, including Flint, Connah’s Quay, Mold, Buckley, and surrounding areas, to help learners feel confident where it matters most. I became a driving instructor after struggling to find the right support for my own daughter. Like many families, we found it hard to even get instructors to return calls, and when she did start lessons it quickly became clear that she was not a natural in the car. I felt that because of this, some instructors found her less appealing to teach. That experience stayed with me and ultimately became the reason I chose this career.
I qualified as a driving instructor later in life, at the age of 47, bringing with me a wide range of life and professional experience. Before teaching, I spent nine and a half years serving in the Royal Air Force, followed by roles within several charities, including the Royal British Legion and Citizens Advice. These roles shaped who I am today and cemented my passion for supporting people properly, listening without judgement, and meeting individuals where they are rather than where they are expected to be.
My approach to teaching is calm, structured and highly personalised. I believe every learner is different, and lessons should reflect that. I take pride in responding to enquiries quickly, being honest about progress, and offering fair, transparent pricing. I am particularly passionate about supporting learners who need a bit more patience, confidence building, or tailored explanation to help things click.
I work best with learners who are motivated and willing to engage with the learning process. After every lesson, I provide detailed feedback so you can clearly see your progress and share this with family members or anyone supporting your private practice. This helps ensure any practice outside of lessons is purposeful and suited to your current needs.
I strongly encourage learners to take their theory test seriously and early, and I offer as much support as possible to help you prepare and pass. I teach the honest truth about driving, not shortcuts or tricks just to scrape through a test. My focus is on driver safety, good decision making, awareness, planning, and confidence so you are prepared not just for test day, but for driving independently afterwards. I also use the MyDriveTime app to support learning, reflection, and progress tracking between lessons.
Above all, I care deeply about helping people succeed in a way that feels supportive, fair, and confidence building. Learning to drive can be life changing, and I take that responsibility seriously.
